The Honorable Aenias Shaw

Sir,

As the late militia act of the legislature leaves in the power of His Honor the President to organize troops of horse in this Province, I beg you will have the goodness to mention to His Honor, that a number of twenty five and more will if Allowed/Volunteer for a troop in the District of Newcastle; and should it meet the President’s approbation, I beg leave to recommend Lieutenant John Grover to be Captain, Ensign Thomas M. Spalding to be Lieutenant, and M. Joseph I. Losie to be Cornet, they all belonging to the Northumberland Militia; should the Officers be Commissioned, and swords, and Pistols could be furnished for the Men, they would be ready for immediate service.

I have the Honor to be Sir,

Your most obedient Humble Servant

M. Peter LtCol 1st Reg’t Northumberland Militia

Cramahe 15th, October 1812
