| These
folks are conducting a candidate search as the incumbent "What a lovely
lady" Christine Stewart is retiring (that refers to a career change not
her personality!
Anyway four men (three white and one of colour) are chasing the golden pension and the green seat. The party faithful (we'll see how faithful when heads are counted at the vote, 2700 members signed and less than that to vote) will have a flag bearer on October 21st. My money is on Paul
Macklin! to win the nomination, closely followed by Marty Halloran,
the big question will be to see if Mr Halloran stays around in defeat.

The PCs do not have a nominee yet but rumours abound that Ralph Zarboni will repeat as the candidate, the story goes that Joe Clark prefers him here although he might prefer to run where he lives! | The kneedippers will nominate on 27th of October and names being tossed around include the usual suspects. Cynics will say that they couldn't fill a phone booth ... we'll see on the 27th. | Now this race gets interesting. The righteous have been looking for a candidate since the Spring and everybody of the 'right' persuasion has been touted as potential candidates: Cathy Redden, Doug Galt, John Floyd, Al Mathews and many others. There is a declared candidate some ex-cop who lives in the country. But this week Frank magazine printed that little Stevie Gilchrist is being wooed by "Stockwell Day off" He is among eight MPPs reported to be succumbing to the perks of cabinet. That's assuming Stock the Jock wins. |
