The Tool Shed

This is the frame of a garden shed that was built in 1990 to hold bicycles. It had been positioned with a small hill behind it. With the help of the growing roots and trunk of a large black walnut tree the ground behind had begun to slide against the back of the shed. The frame and siding had begun to rot and I didn't think it was worth saving. But as I tried to dismantle it I soon learned it was sturdier than it looked so I decided to cut off its back and reframe it. It became a 4x 6 ft structure instead of the original 6 x 6 ft. I moved it to more level ground on the other side of the property and onto a raised, recycled concrete block foundation.

I covered the frame with plastic sheeting and wooden fence boards. Recycled brick for the floor and shingles for the roof. It's roomy enough inside to hold all my garden tools plus two carts.

Dad and I talked about making changes to the garden. I'm working on the plan but there hasn't been a lot of time to devote to it. Little by little. The following are a few of the plants I photographed this past summer.
