The Honourable Aeneas Shaw

Sir,

I have the honour to inclose to you, for his Honour the President’s information a return of the first Regiment of Northumberland Militia with a # Statement of the arms, accoutrements & ammunition received for the Flank companies last summer, sum of the guns was not good fire when I reviewed them and several others were out of repair some of which I cannot get repaired without sending to York or Kingston; there is no flints fit for use scarcely; I have received from York the 17th instant 4,000 English Musket Cartridges, I think in good order, which I do not include in this statement.

The officers I wish to recommend to fill the vacancies are mentioned under the last of officers in my return.

I have the honour to be Sir, your most Obedient, Humble Servant,

M. Peters Lt. Col.

Northumberland Militia 25th March, 1813

N.B.

I mentioned to His Honour the president at Fort George that I thought 300 stands of arms would be sufficient to arm the Northumberland militia it will appear by the return and the statement of arms, that 45 stands more, will be required to complete the whole.
