Hamilton 6th June 1810

Sir,

I have the honour to say that I have received your letter of the 30 April last and happy to find that my conduct meets his Excellency’s approbation.

I have also the honour to transmit the field return of the first Regiment of Northumberland Militia as appears by the field returns of the several companies on the fourth June instant; I likewise transmit a return of the officers and recommend such gentlemen for his Excellency’s approval to fill up the vacancies as in my opinion are the most respectable and best qualified.

I beg leave to remark that I have recommended Lieutenant Zacheus Burnham for a Captaincy by the consent of Lieutenants Ward and Vaughn who are his Seniors.

I have the honour to be Sir, Your most obedient humble servant,

Elias Jones, Major

To the Honourable Aeneas Shaw Adjutant General Militia
