Hamilton 6 June 1810

Sir,

I take the liberty of saying and I hope without giving offense that John Peters Esquire late Sheriff of the District of Newcastle has been a Major in the militia in the Midland District and is an officer upon half pay; he would take the command of the Northumberland militia should it please his Excellency to appoint him.

And I also take the liberty to state that should his Excellency be pleased to appoint M. Peters commander of the Northumberland militia it would give general satisfaction.

I have the Honour to be Sir, Your most obedient humble servant,

Elias Jones, Major Militia

To the Honourable Eaneas Shaw Adjutant General Militia

Letter from Major Jones 1st Regiment Northumberland Militia 6th June 1810 (Answered 1st August 1810)
