The War of 1812 in Northumberland County

Very little has been written by historians about this area and the War of 1812.  Interest has been generated by the Cobourg Museum Foundation and the restoration of the building believed to be a barracks from the War of 1812 (see Barrack's section). As a result, the students at CDCI West have found and transcribed records from the War of 1812 and interpreted these records.  These are available at:

Interpretations of the War of 1812 in Northumberland.

From the National Archives we have letters written concerning the Northumberland militia 1807-1829.

Finally, we also have pay records from the War of 1812 for the Northumberland militia.  It lists duties, pay, and the names of all of the soldiers and officers on that mission.
