Thanksgiving Heritage Weekend in the Kawarthas

Experience Description:
Spend 3 days exploring the cultural heritage, sacred sites and natural wonders of the Kawartha Lakes region.
Your journey begins at Victoria Inn, a charming century-old lakefront inn on beautiful Rice Lake - just 90 minutes east of Toronto. Once you are settled in, a local 'Spirit Guide' will introduce you to the area's enduring Ojibway heritage and beautiful natural landscape.
We will start your exploration with a drive along the Oak Ridges Moraine to nearby Peterborough for a tour of the breathtaking new exhibits at the Canadian Canoe Museum. After a sunset dinner overlooking Rice Lake, participate in a friendship circle with Alderville artist/educator, Rick Beaver.
On your second day, venture north to Buckhorn to visit the 500 year old native rock carving at Petroglyphs Provincial Park. Spend the afternoon at Curve Lake's Pow Wow. Save some time to visit Whetung Art Gallery, featuring an impressive selection of native arts and crafts. Head back south for dinner at Victoria Inn.
On day three, complete your experience with a guided tour of the Black Oak Savanna at the First Nation Community of Alderville and the sacred Serpent Mounds on the shores of Rice Lake.

| 6:30 | walk on the Oak Ridges Moraine |

| 9:30 | checkout and leave for Alderville |
| 10:00 | tour at Alderville and the Black Oak Savanna |
