Thanks to participants at CAJ + CAJEF Innovate News
The Canadian Association of Journalists and the CAJ Education Foundation thanks everyone who helped to make the inaugural Innovate News conference on Jan. 30 a huge success. Delegates, speakers, sponsors and support staff all helped to make it a memorable event where news staff and management learned about emerging techniques, technologies and models to transform journalism for the 21st century. The conference focused on skills, strategies and tactics that journalists and their organizations can start implementing immediately.

The conference was structured in four tracks that ran from 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 30 at the MaRS Centre in Toronto.

WHAT WE DO:

The CAJ promotes excellence in journalism, encouraging investigative journalism. We serve as the national voice of Canadian journalists, and we uphold the public’s right to know.

GOALS:

  • Build on the professional development foundation laid by 30 years of national conferences, awards, and writers’ symposia.
  • Provide members with network, advocacy and information services.
  • Foster grass roots growth by encouraging regional and chapter activity.
  • Offer insight into the world of journalism and tools of the trade through "Media Magazine," our quarterly publication.
  • Partner with other journalism, advocacy or professional development organizations who share similar goals and beliefs.
The Canadian Association of Journalists is a national non-profit public interest advocacy and professional development organization serving Canadian journalists from all media, including print, broadcast and online. It is the only group of its kind in Canada. Founded in 1978, and counting more than 1,500 active members across the country, the CAJ is run by a volunteer board of professional journalists.
